   The structure of the castle is that of a typical medieval military fortress, on top of a hill surrounded by a chain of  mountains and woods. Used by the church  for over 5oo years ,  the rock , was  an inaccessible fortress for its enemies. Today , a peaceful place where every year tens of thousands of tourists visit . The summer program of events ‘Fumonestate’ includes different cultural manifestations and open air cinema as well as the traditional ‘sagre’.
